Feb 18,  · Many consider Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus, released in , to be Spirit’s finest hour, though I still find their initial self titled album to be their crowning ticentfoolridiscprat.miclidicsekareteterogliraci.coheless, Spirit, a nearly mythical band, arrived at the apex of experimental classic rock, lacing their music with jazz, rock, folk, and bathing all of that in the waters of psychedelia/5().

Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus Spirit Rock · the album reveals Spirit to be lunatics who brought some sweet mojo to the party. The beautifully optimistic “Life Has Just Begun,” the David Crosby–gentle “Soldier,” and the towering “Morning Will Come” (oh those horns!) all adhere to late-’60s, early-’70s musical.
  6. Digis says:
The Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus is so perfect one can't help wondering if, a la Led Zep, these guys made a pact with the Devil. Just kidding, all you Zep fans. The pact that was made was with David Briggs (Neil Young's producer back in the day), who simply frames the songs in the best possible light, and what beautiful light it is/5(13).

12 Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus is a loosely constructed sci-fi concept album, which showcases the climax of the band's early years. Basically the twelve tracks on the album are supposed to represent dreams, but the concept gets vague after that part.

gram audiophile vinyl Gatefold sleeve After releasing their first three albums Spirit started working on what is widely considered to be their best LP: Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus. By recommendation of Neil Young the band chose David Briggs as the producer, known for his work with Young. Like The Who's Tommy and Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon, Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus .

Although Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus has the reputation of being Spirit's most far-out album, it actually contains the most disciplined songwriting and playing of the original lineup, cutting back on some of the drifting and offering some of their more melodic tunes. The lilting "Nature's Way" was the most endearing FM standard on the album, which also included some of Spirit.
